Who remembers the old Bookmobiles!?
Did you know that the first American Bookmobile was launched in 1904 by a gal named Mary Titcomb. She referred to this early version as the “Library Wagon.” You can see a picture of this first mobile library below.
But most of us probably remember the later versions (ahhh, the smell of books!).
While we don’t see bookmobiles up in these parts, we are fortunate enough to have our very own public library…Yay! Stop by sometime and enjoy browsing the great selection.
Oh, you’ll find that old familiar smell of books as well!

Though the library and school are not officially linked, they are certainly linked as a community of children and families with a love of books and learning! We love to find ways to work with and support our locals. Check out just one way the library and school are working together…
Recently 5th and 6th graders used library resources to help with a fun writing project! They are writing a collaborative book about a day in their life to be titled “One Day.”
We hope the students will share the book with the library once it is finished, so that we can all get a peek into the life of some of our local youth!
Welcome fellow gardeners! The library is now offering a “Seed Sharing Center”. Our “aim is to make free seeds available in an effort to to preserve disappearing heirloom and open-pollinated plant varieties, both edible and ornamental.”
If you have such seed and would like to share it with our community of growers, bring them to the library in a labeled, paper envelope. If you would like to try the seeds that were given to share, find the seed you are interested in and take some using the plastic bags provided. For more details, stop by the library or give us a call!
Thank you, Cindy, for setting this center up in our library.
We hope to see you at the library!
